Thanks so much for entering our contest! We thought we'd tell you a little about us and about our home. If you have any more questions, please send us an email...and our apologies if it takes a few days to get back to you. We are blessed with an abundance of interest, entrants and details to attend to!
Q: Who are you?
A: We are just an average couple trying to think out of the box and create a win-win-win proposition regarding the sale of our home! We grew up, met and married in California and have lived in Park City since 2005. We've had a wonderful and varied work history ranging from Film/TV production to Publishing to IndyCar racing to Couture Fashion. We write a relationship column for a wonderful publication called Positive Impact Magazine. See also khelly.com
Q: How/Why did you decide to give away the home like this?A: We try to live life with a win-win-win perspective and we thought a contest like this achieved that goal. Our home or the cash prize may go to someone: who is creative and probably not a professional artist, who may not be able to afford a home, who may use the cash to fulfill a lifelong dream. We love the component of giving back to a worthy charity! And we are so excited to see what we can do with the book "200 Story Home", especially because the proceeds are earmarked to launch our own foundation: The DO Tank!
Q: What are you going to do if I take the home?A: We are going to jump for joy, because you and your family and friends will LOVE this home and love Park City, regardless if you make it your full time residence or come for a few weeks or months a year! We needed you to win the home or the cash prize so we can get on to the next phase of our life. After the contest is concluded, The DO Tank! will be our full-time endeavor. Our first project will be taking the story of the 200 Story Home on the road showing the art at galleries across the country. After a year of traveling we plan to make Park City the home base for operating The DO Tank!
Q: Wow! You're going to make $2 million dollars...that's a lot of money!A: LOL! That'd be fantastic if we could make that much! You probably already know that we wanted to sell our home and use any proceeds to start The DO! Tank, but since the market is so slow, we weren't able to do that, so we came up with this idea. This process has a lot of moving parts and other similar contests have 6 FULL-TIME people running the contest so, in case you're curious, here's how the numbers play out (this is if the Grand Prize Winner takes the cash). We will collect $1.9 million (19,000 tickets at $100 per ticket) and then we'll pay (or have already paid) $500,000 to the GPW, $290,000 sales/affiliate programs, $250,000 marketing/direct mail, $100,000 to charity, $100,000 PR, $99,500 for Runner Up prizes, $90,000 for Early Bird prizes, $50,000 for merchant/PayPal fees, $50,000 dedicated person to manage entries (receive, file, scan, log, etc.), $40,000 assistant, $35,000 website design and management, $25,000 accounting/bookkeeping and $20,000 for legal fees, which leaves $250,500 which is about the same profit we would have received if we sold our home when the market was still good. Please note that in the numbers above we are not taking any compensation for our time.
Q: How long have you lived in the home?A: We bought the house in August 2004 and have done lots of improvements. Every surface has been repainted, we put in a gorgeous master bathroom, added adjoining bathrooms to 2 bedrooms, added a wonderful balcony off the front, planted over 10,000 tulip and daffodil bulbs...and the not so sexy improvements: new roof, updated pool pump equipment, air conditioning, new windows and more.
Q: Where can I see more pictures of the home?A: Click here or go to: The House.
